We were delighted to welcome 16 of the Bouncing Bulldogs Jump Rope team from North Carolina, USA to stay with us for two days during their UK tour at the end of July 2009. Members of this world-renowned international and national champion jump rope team led a 3 hour fun-filled rope skipping workshop for 15 members and 28 non-members of all ages and abilities in the Jubilee Hall. We were all inspired by their amazing talent, enthusiasm and energy. For a video taken of their final demonstration, go to Galleries page and click on the Bouncing Bulldogs Demo video link.
Many thanks to the parents who helped to provide the visitor’s lunch and hosted many of the children. If anyone has some good photos of the visit, please send them to us at committee@seergreenskippers.org.
See also www.bouncingbulldogs.org for more information on the team.
Well done to all the skippers who travelled up to Studley on Saturday 6th February. They won 19 medals in the Novice section (5 Gold, 10 Silver, 4 Bronze) and 14 in the National competition (6 Gold, 2 Silver, 6 Bronze). Congratulations particularly to Lara Liebenberg who became Under 11 National Champion at 30 sec speed and double unders and with her partner Bronwyn Edwards also took gold in the pairs speed and double under events.
Also in the team competition held on Saturday 27th March, Bronwyn Edwards and Olivia Martin won gold in the National under 11 team competition, whilst Isabel Lanning and Alicia Western-Kaye also won gold in the Novice under 11 team competition. Well done!
Our 2 top skippers have been selected to represent the UK at the World Youth Tournament, part of the World Championships, to be held in Loughborough in July.
Tiffany Branscombe and Georgia Toay of Seer Green were invited to team up with Ashleigh Caplin and Sam Cross of the Bouncers Skipping Club near Kingston, in order to produce the best possible team of the right ages, skills and commitment. They won bronze at the BRSA Team Competition on Saturday 27th March in the 12 to 14 age group but as the highest placed mixed team, they qualified easily for the World Youth Tournament. The team has been together less than 2 months, so they have had to work extremely hard to choreograph and perfect their routines.
