Seer Green Skippers, formed in May 2008, is a community club based at Seer Green CE School, near Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire. The club was formed to build on the skills already demonstrated by members of the school and to give a similar opportunity to all ages within the local community.
In October 2006 the school received a visit from National Skipping Workshops, an organisation which promotes skipping as an inclusive activity in schools all over the UK. An explosion of interest, driven by a group of Year 5 girls, took place to the point that the school became one of the top competitive skipping schools in the UK. By the time the 6 girls left Year 6 in July 2008, they had developed their skills to a very high standard and were deemed the top UK school skipping team.
The club is run and supervised by Katy Edwards and Andrea Branscombe, with Laura Summers coaching most of the Saturday sessions.
We are very lucky that Laura has agreed to coach our Saturday sessions. She is one of the most highly qualified coaches in the UK and a veteran of several European and World Championships.
She has been skipping since the age of six at the Blue and White Rope Skippers in Studley, Warwickshire, headed by Sue Dale of the British Rope Skipping Association.
